I have been watching my weight for years upon years and tried lots of the fad diets as well but I never felt totally satisfied with my appearance or how I felt physically. "I have struggled a lot with my weight. at 12 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Hashimoto's, that affects my metabolism. I tried fad diets, counted calories, spent hours in the gym, meal prepped, ate healthy. but my weight would still fluctuate up and down 10-15lbs a week. I worked with many nutritionists who all helped me in different ways. teaching me holistically about my disease, what to avoid and how to listen to my body.
a year ago I made the decision to invest in myself. I called @nutritiouskate to talk about @trim_bootcamp. the 1:1 program taught me about balance, that if wanted a drink every night I could have it. I learned you need to pair different macros to your workouts and not to restrict calories. I learned about stress and sleep and how they played a huge part in my battle. I learned about intermittent fasting, about carb cycling & macros. I took all of these things I learned, committed and I started seeing results.
it’s been a year to the day between these two pictures. I’ve lost a lot of pounds and so many inches. there are days I definitely don’t stick to a plan and overindulge. but I learned to accept that's okay. I’ve learned to listen to my body: I don’t eat gluten or soy anymore, I only eat dairy and drink on occasion. because the days of inflammation weren’t worth it anymore.
I’m not writing this for praise. I’m not fishing for compliments. I’m writing this because for the majority of my life I was bullied, laughed at, had assumptions made about me, was written off because of my weight. I’m finally proud of myself proud of how far I’ve come. proud I didn’t give up. proud I didn’t just stop after the 12-week program but I incorporated it into my life for weeks after. I’m proud that I don’t nitpick myself as much. I’m kinder to myself.
